NGOs, development workers and advocates held a roundtable discussion on World Humanitarian Day (August 19, 2024) to look at the adverse effect of shrinking civic spaces on humanitarian work in the Philippines.
The group found that worsening attacks on NGOs and humanitarian workers disrupts vital services to communities. This violates the economic, social and cultural rights of Filipinos including during disasters when relief is so needed.
The NGOs and advocates attended agreed on an urgent call to action to assert civic spaces and the Filipino people’s right to development.
