Tech to Fork: Resisting the neoliberal domination in Agriculture amid COVID and beyond

May 18, 2021

Globally, food and agriculture TNCs control much of how, where, what, how much, and for whom food is produced, distributed, and consumed. Neoliberal policy reforms on global food systems were already underway, but the raft of problems that COVID-19 uncovered accelerated these processes.

These include the many TNC-controlled technological “solutions” promoted in Asia, the EU-level lobby operation funded by the Gates Foundation, and the corporate hijack of the UN Food Systems Summit. All these ignore the fact that countless communities in the world have shown that sustainable approaches to food production are not only successful but are also helping to attain food sovereignty and increase their resilience, especially during the pandemic.

Join us in “A Forum on Tech to Fork: Resisting the neoliberal domination in agriculture amid Covid and beyond,” where people’s movements and parliamentarians from Asia and Europe will highlight the lessons and challenges of movements in facing the neoliberal domination in agriculture amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and also agree on policy recommendations for our food systems and agriculture that will put our food sovereignty over monopolies.

The forum is part of the Open Space in the 13th Asia-Europe People’s Forum (AEPF 13).
