February 23, 2022“All in all, the human rights situation in the country is dark and gruesome not only during Marcos’s time but even now under the authoritarian rule of Duterte. This is why we should organize and build the critical mass, the broadest possible united front against dictatorship and tyranny, and gather international support. Relentless violations prove that NTF-ELCAC should be abolished—CPDG
November 10, 2021Grassroots organizations, advocacy groups, and the civil society have registered their indignation over these injustices and warned that this draconian climate will be institutionalized if the Anti-Terror Law of 2020 is not blocked by the Supreme Court. Maza stressed that the Anti-Terror Law (ATL) should be repealed. “The ATL will complete the evolution of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) into a war machine against democracy,” she added.

Demand accountability and justice on Duterte’s last year — CPDG
June 30, 2021CPDG has long condemned the government’s growing anti-democratic legal measures such as the so-called Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 and the smear campaign against activists, development actors, and rights advocates. These are sham peace-building efforts that harm and even result in the death of rights defenders. Anti-crime and counterinsurgency operations in the last months have already taken so many lives aside from defamed and imprisoned countless red-tagged individuals.
