Solidarity action in support of living wage, ayuda, lower prices and social justice

November 30, 2022

The Council for People’s Development and Governance joined the multi-sectoral mass action led by workers, urban poor and the youth on November 30, 2022, in commemoration of the 159th birth anniversary of national hero Andres Bonifacio.

Andres Bonifacio led the Filipino revolt against the Spanish colonizers in August 1896 for social justice and sovereign independence of the Filipino people.

CPDG in a resolution made during its second general members meeting on November 28, 2022, vowed to support the people’s calls for additional Php100 to the daily wages of workers and support subsidy or ayuda for poor households, as well as production subsidy for farmers and fisherfolks, and lowering of the prices of basic goods amid falling household incomes and increasing poverty across the nation.

The demand for a living wage and support subsidies especially during crises as well as ensuring social services are availed and enjoyed by the people are part of the joint priority stakeholders‘ recommendations in the 4th cycle of the United Nation’s Universal Periodic Review of the Philippines’ Human Rights Situation. #eof#
