The Council for People’s Development and Governance (CPDG) showed its support for the LGBTQIA+ community during the Pride Month celebration held on June 24, 2023, at the #LoveLaban Pride PH Festival 2023 in Quezon Memorial Circle.

CPDG together with the Stop the Discrimination Coalition and the Commission on Human RIghts set up a dedicated booth to advocate for the legislation of the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Bill (CADB), which aims to address discrimination faced by all marginalized sectors of Filipino society and the cross-sectional discrimination they confront. Additionally, CPDG emphasized the urgent passage of the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill, which seeks to prohibit various forms of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.
As a way for participants to visit the booth, CPDG offered free face paint activity to promote these calls. The activity attracted enthusiastic advocates and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who eagerly lined up to participate. The face paint activity was led by Aki Liongson, a TikTok influencer known for their motto “stay woke.” Fortunately, many individuals in the queue remembered Liongson’s slogan and actively joined the petition signing organized by the Commission on Human Rights with Gabriela Philippines and Bahaghari urging the swift passage of the CADB and SOGIE Bills.
Advocates also carried the slogans prepared by CPDG and STD Coalition as they posed with their face paints.
