CPDG Spokesperson Rochelle Poras joined Brigada News FM Manila to discuss House Bill (HB) 9465, or the Anti-Disinformation Bill.
During the interview, Poras raised concerns over the measure’s potential impact on freedom of expression, warning that its broad provisions could grant the government sweeping powers to determine what constitutes “truth” and “falsehood,” creating risks for censorship and the suppression of legitimate dissent. She added that instead of passing HB 9465, the government should prioritize legislations like the Human Rights Defenders Act or HB 214 which could fortify protection over civil liberties.
