ICYMI: The Council for People’s Development and Governance, in partnership with the Caucus of Development NGO Networks and the Defend NGOs Alliance, held a forum on May 20, 2025, during Open Government Week.
The event, titled “Cost of Compliance: Implications on People’s Rights,” presented forensic evidence on the misuse of legal and regulatory mechanisms against NGOs and explored strategies to counter these attacks and strengthen civic participation.
The groups called on the Philippine government to enhance accountability measures and protect CSOs from red-tagging and judicial harassment.
